European Future and Emerging Technologies (FET-Open) Consortium on Self-powered Wearable Technology for Chronic Pain Relief Medical Treatments (SELF-CARE)
PEER Award Holder: Dr Carlos Garcia Nunez, University of the West of Scotland
European Future and Emerging Technologies (FET-Open) Consortium on Self-powered Wearable Technology for Chronic Pain Relief Medical Treatments (SELF-CARE) comprises research groups in various SRPe and non-SRPe universities and SME partners within Europe, working in the area of energy systems, wearable electronics and chronic pain medical treatments. During PEER activity, SELF-CARE partners will discuss future directions of advanced materials and nanotechnology for the fabrication of high-performance energy systems, comprising low-power electronics and sensors, energy harvesters and energy storage devices, essential for the development of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) technology.
The PEER activity will consist mainly in two stays in URJC (Spain), where Dr. Carlos Garcia Nunez (CGN) and Prof. Carlos Goicoechea Garcia (CGG) will initiate the preparation of the proposal for above FET-Open call. These series of meetings will allow them to create a consortium, namely SELF-CARE, involving worldwide recognised academic and industrial research groups working in the field of wearable electronics and health care applications. Moreover, CGN and CGG will have regular meetings with other consortium members to organise and plan the research project structure, including scope, objectives, milestones and deliverables, as well as to anticipate main outcomes and outputs from the proposed research.
PEER activity will allow potential research groups to be part of SELF-CARE consortium, widening their areas of investigation by collaborating with multidisciplinary research groups, working in fields such as Physics, Engineering and Medicine.
