SRPe is delighted to announce the launch of the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland Industry Doctorate Programme in Advanced Manufacturing (NMIS-IDP).

The National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS) is an industry-led international centre of manufacturing expertise. It aims to make Scotland and the UK a global leader in advanced manufacturing. Industry, academia and public-sector support bodies will work together to transform skills, productivity and innovation in the sector.

Based on a £1.2M investment by the Scottish Government / Scottish Funding Council (SFC), this NMIS Industry Doctorate Programme is delivered by SRPe as an integral part of the NMIS Manufacturing Skills Academy and the pan-Scotland SRPe Engineering Graduate School.

The NMIS-IDP will provide a total of thirty NMIS industry doctorates (PhDs) in advanced manufacturing (co-funded by industry and Higher Education partners) launching from October 2018 through to the end of 2019.

The programme is designed specifically around industry needs and is being delivered in close collaboration with the NMIS development team and advanced manufacturing industry community involving OEMs, SMEs and other supply-chain partners. It funds industry doctorate projects of four years’ duration addressing the most critical skills and technical research challenges in advanced / digital manufacturing.
