New Robotics & AI Initiative to Target Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF)
SRPe has been awarded funding of £50K from the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) Industry-Academia Links Fund (supported by the Trade, Investment and Innovation Directorate of the Scottish Government) for a new initiative aimed at harnessing Scotland’s expertise in Robotics and Autonomous Systems (RAS) and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Scotland is fast becoming an internationally recognised centre of excellence in RAS and AI, with over 16% of all EPSRC research funding, and Scottish industries are already leading the way in several areas. Building upon this, and under the existing collaborative framework of the Scottish Research Partnership in Engineering (SRPe), Scotland is uniquely positioned to capitalise on the RAS and AI revolution to produce major societal and economic benefits.
The SRPe RAS & AI Industrial Impact Acceleration Initiative, focused around a series of workshops to establish collaborative groups between academia, industry and the public sector, will accelerate and focus the coordination of collaborative activities across Scotland to target ISCF funding and other opportunities where RAS & AI can have major impact. This will ensure the effective delivery of game-changing solutions to Scottish / UK industry and the provision of the necessary pipeline of innovations to future-proof the international competitiveness of Scotland and the UK.
